Wellbeing Program

On Wednesday the scientific program will finish at 12.30pm, allowing you to participate in wellbeing activities, whilst discovering what Perth has to offer.

Following lunch at the Convention Centre, you will travel to one of our three wellbeing hubs, on the river, on the beach or in the city. You are invited to choose an activity as part of the registration process, and make an afternoon of it. You are most welcome to book additional tickets for your partners and family to relax too

River Hub – South Perth

Participants will be guided to the Elizabeth Quay Ferry Terminal, and will then take the ferry across to South Perth where you can relax on the sheltered banks of the Swan River looking out onto the Perth skyline.  A perfect spot for sailing, supping, or a family picnic.

Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Boarding

An afternoon on the Swan River supping amongst the dolphins in Matilda Bay.   Participate in a one hour supervised SUP.  Join a 4-6 adult team on one of the super SUPs and compete in short course races and tug of war.  Double up with a friend and jump on a 14 foot high performance race SUPs for experienced paddlers.  Or simply find your balance and cruise around the river.

Cost: $20
Inclusions: Hire of a Stand Up Paddle Board for 1 hour

The “Freo Doctor” makes an appearance in the afternoon in Perth blowing a consistent 20 knots.  If you’d like to take it on, join us for an afternoon of sailing on the Swan River. Then join the other river hub activities for afternoon tea at a venue of your choice.

Beach Hub – Swanbourne Surf Club

Enjoy an afternoon at Swanbourne beach.  White sand stretching into turquoise water.  Have a dip in the ocean, hangout in the park with the kids or settle in at a coastal cafe for some delicious food and wine.

Yoga and Meditation at the Beach

Find your balance and escape the city with 60 minute yoga session overlooking the Indian Ocean. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which includes breath control, simple meditation and specific body postures. The postures are designed to promote good health, fitness and control of the mind. Practicing Yoga is a great way to attain a state of tranquility and is excellent for busy people on the go. It also assists in improving mobility, blood flow, strength and posture while providing you with a complete state of mental wellbeing.

Coastal Run/Walk (6km/10km)

Runners will take a scenic 10km linear route including some short sand sections from Swanbourne Beach to Leighton Beach. Take in stunning views of Fremantle Harbor, Rottnest Island, Indiana Tea House and the turquoise Indian Ocean the whole way.

For those wishing to take it a little easier, a 6km walk along the beach front is also an option.

Beach Visit

For those delegates wishing to just take some time out, and enjoy one of Australia’s most beautiful beaches, you have the option of taking the pre-arranged transportation to the beach hub, for a minimal fee.

City Hub

Basic Ballroom and Latin Dancing Workshop

To prepare yourself for the gala night of Dancing under the Stars, why not come to our dance class to learn some moves from some of Australia’s best ballroom and Latin dancers?  This three hour workshop will cover some of the basic steps so you can own the dance floor.  Partners are most welcome.

A world class mixologist will host a special 90 minute cocktail making class at one of Perth’s finest restaurants, Long Chim, where you’ll discover Thai inspired drinks. Assist the Long Chim Bar Manager in infusing, muddling, shaking and blending 2 cocktails

Join the FACEM lycra brigade on a 50km Swan River Loop via Beaches. Further information about the ride can be found here. This ride will be a 26-28km/hr pace.

If hiring a bike, this will be delivered to the departure point, The Bell Tower, 20 minutes prior to departure. Cyclists will make their way from the Convention Centre to the Bell tower at Elizabeth Quay, for a 2pm start.
